The Time Well, My first DIY watch

Parts Used

Description

Many people asked about the details of my first DIY watch, so here you have it.

All of the parts were sourced off AliExpress, and I was not let down by the quality. All of the parts cost me £64($81) on the dot, excluding all of the tools that I purchased.

The watch took me a couple hours to assemble, the hands are much smaller than you think they are, it is really a test of your dexterity. I also managed to accidentally sand off a bit too much of the crown stem, so I cannot push the crown to its usual position without screwing it down which messes up the time, I will need to order a new crown stem and creep up on the measurement. The whole experience was rather fun and relaxed though, and I am eager to build another watch soon.

I balled out on most of the tools I would need anytime soon as I want to start learning how to service movements and eventually start restoring watches similar to youtube channels such as Wristwatch Revival. I might consider filming some videos, but at the moment its more of a fun hobby than anything else.

If you want to get your start in DIY watches, you can get away with much fewer tools that I purchased, mine totaled out to be £55($69) so I thought I might as well, the cost of entry is fairly low, I would absolutely recommend you give it a shot if it tickles your fancy.
